Whew! This life is a whiplash rollercoaster. Feeling grateful to see this sinuous youngster this morning. What she lacks in age and wisdom and maturity she makes up for in eagerness, curiosity, and a kind of innocent trust that is often the casualty of maturity and experience. She is discovering her gifts, following what feels hot, pleasurable, juicy, exciting...maybe a little scary. She is learning about her power—what it is and how and WHY to use it.
I am taking an online class about working with lunar cycles with the amazing Sarah Faith Gottesdiener. Discerning my goal/desire for the class has been such a process. And yesterday, in the midst of my emotional ups and downs and mircrosensitivity to things, it struck me: be careful what you wish for. Once you start a process in motion through intention, it goes. Seeing that is helping me further refine my desires and goals. SPECIFICITY is a powerful tool in all kinds of magic—story magic, intentions, creative work. Enter however you can and then get granular as you go, adjusting and refining based on what you notice.
I’m also reading a book called Sex and Punishment by Eric Berkowitz, and it really has me reflecting on power. Especially women and power. To see that much of yesterday’s agony was about how closely my doubts, shame, and insecurity sit beneath my power. (The book is providing helpful [if harrowing] context on why that might be…) And that when I feel particularly powerful, the membrane between my power and my shame and doubt gets incredibly thin and porous. Seeing that, it becomes possible for me to work with it more intentionally through practice and ritual and creative work.
Feeling an incredible amount of tenderness today. Wondering how you all are feeling?
