Card of the Day: Son of Wands
I pulled this guy yesterday and this morning, so we’ve been getting to know each other a bit. (Aside: I dreamt that a wand came out of the side of my face last night.) So this young adventurer is quite literally up for anything. He stares off to the right (the side associated with masculine energy), tongue out, sensing his environment, and all the energy he could ever need bursting from the wand around which he wraps himself.
The Wands suit is associated with the most intangible forms of our experience. (Most tangible = Pentacles/Earth—behavior and the material world. Then Cups/Water—emotions, relationships. Then Swords/Air—cognitive activity, communication.) The Wands are Fire energy—energy, spirit, inspiration, identity. And this youngster is still learning to wield it well. He can go a little overboard, as he hasn’t yet developed the self-discipline and grounding that the more mature members of the Wands court possess. But that’s okay. Sometimes you need to just go for it.
I feel very sensitive and tender to all the different places—mental, emotional and energetic—that people are finding themselves in. Me included. One minute I’m raging, another I’m crying at a viral video, the next I’m LOL-ing at a great meme. I feel scattered, distracted, energetically flattened like an LCD screen. Sometimes focused, “productive.” Sometimes dissociated, pleasantly or unpleasantly.
For me, it feels like a good time to just accept all the different flavors of my experience without judgment. I mean, the alternative is...fighting with myself? No thank you! White supremacist capitalist patriarchy has shamed me enough for several lifetimes, making me feel like my only value is in doing, producing, centering others’ experiences.
Today, I practice loving all the different facets of my self and my experience. I want you to know that I practice this by loving you, too, in all the different facets of your self and your experience. May we use this time to realize ever more deeply the extent of our inseparability and interconnection.
