online writings for 78 Faces of Power
In February 2024, I began channeling the writings for 78 Faces of Power thru ritual engagement with Ithell Colquhoun’s Taro as Colour.
online writings for Tarot as Questions
Tarot as Questions began on July 11, 2022 with IV The Emperor + was inspired by my friend Finn Schubert’s weekly writings. Coming out of a period of depression, I decided to try getting to know Ithell Colquhoun’s Taro as Colour deck by pulling a card at random each day + free-writing about the arcana, using Colquhoun’s images as a starting point. Then I distilled that free-writing into an Instagram-length caption. I ended up completing the writing for 78 arcana in 78 days, finishing on September 26, 2022 with the 10 of Swords.
My tarot work, my organizing work, + all of my relational + spiritual activity revolves around questions. With Mars in Gemini in my 12th House, ruled by Mercury in Capricorn in the 7th house, I find questions to be a potent way to embody an erotic relationship to life, to experience aliveness in the space of curiosity + inquiry. My tarot work with others always begins with refining a question that matters to the person + as closely as possible aligns with what they most desire to know.
Using questions to enter the tarot can be a powerful way of encoding the arcana with your own meanings + stories, as opposed to memorizing meanings generated by other people. Colquhoun used color as the fulcrum in creating her deck, after decades of tarot study. Here, I am using questions to open up the arcana to your own experience.
I have gathered these writings into a limited edition workbook called Tarot as Questions, published by Cosmic Doghouse Press.
